Conference Coverage
As businesses are returning to normal we are seeing an increase in bookings for events and conferences. Many of the companies, as well as wanting their event documented, are looking to get headshots taken of their staff as part of the event. For many of these its the first time they’ve had their staff all together in the same place for years and plenty of these colleagues have only ever met over Zoom in the past.
Our headshot process is a little different for these type of events. Normally we take the time to get to know the people we are photographing and coach them through the process, even showing them their images and allowing them to select their preferences. For conference photos its headshots on steroids - getting through as many as we can during breaks in their agenda.
We recently did a such a job for NEC Australia who were holding a conference at West HQ in Rooty Hill. They had sessions, speakers (including Australian of the Year Dylan Alcott) and workshops throughout the day that I was there as well as an awards dinner in the evening. I needed to capture all of that and get as many headshots in as I could during the breaks.
We had a 20 minute break for morning tea, and a 45 minute break at lunchtime - that’s it. And we managed to get over 60 headshots done in this time! In many ways this is what we have been working towards over the years specialising in professional headshots. I was able to quickly get everyone into a position I knew would be effective for them and quickly build the rapport needed to get them relaxed and ready. The results were very good indeed. Yes, I would have liked more time to work through some different poses and allow them to select their images but everybody was happy with the results.
All in all I spent 14 hours with the team from NEC that day. I enjoyed every minute and I’m really pleased that the client was happy with the results.
