Consistent Corporate Team Photos
One of the questions I get asked the most from prospective clients is “What goes into producing headshots for our whole organisation’?
I recently had the privilege of creating headshots for the team at Wavemaker. They are a media and communications agency based in North Sydney and needed consistent quality images of their staff for all of their internal and external communications.
I’ve photographed members of their team before and knew the style the they wanted. In this case they wanted their team members on a pure white background, this is the most popular look of all the headshot types that I offer, there are a few reasons for this;
It’s a very clean look
It’s easily replicable across multiple offices at home and abroad.
It allows the subject to be the star of the show without any distractions.
Images can easily be dropped into presentations with white backgrounds, they are also easy to deep-etch (cut out the subject from the background)
To shoot this I had one light pointed at the white wall background and two more lights to light the subject, a large softbox as a key light and a simple umbrella to fill in the shadows. It gives fairly even and flat lighting which again is easily replicable and can be used for any purpose.
Each person was scheduled a time for their shoot, on average they were with me for five minutes each. In that time I’m able to coach them into getting the very best image - this involves playing with poses, angles and expressions (and sometimes mindsets) until we get something that shows them at their best and lets their personality shine through. I also allow them to view the images on screen as we go and to get them to choose their preferred images.
Images are then edited to bring out a bit more awesomeness. I remove temporary skin blemishes and do a little bit of natural looking teeth whitening and skin softening. The final images are then delivered electronically in a few different formats to suit individual client needs.
In this instance we also did some shots of the whole agency which was a lot of fun. This involves a very different lighting set up which was made challenging by the very dark ceilings and walls in the room that we were shooting (white allows the light to bounce around and reflect more filling in most of the shadows). But we were happy with the results.
